Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints of discomfort, cause of job-related disability and a big reason that people miss work.  In fact, approximately 80% adults in the United States will experience lower back pain at some point in their lifetimes.

Lower back pain can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden sharp sensation that can leave you debilitated.  Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of things that may include:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Disc degeneration
  • Herniated or ruptured discs
  • Sciatica
  • A traumatic injury
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Skeletal irregularities
  • Poor posture
  • Lifting something too heavy or the wrong way
  • Age-related changes of the spine
  • Strenuous workout
  • Sedentary lifestyle

Lower back pain treatment may include rest, heat and ice packs and medications to reduce symptoms.
